About Freer's Carpet & Upholstery Cleaning

I have lived in Portland, Oregon since 1954. After graduating from Central Catholic High School here in Portland, I promptly entered the United States Air Force. After my tour of duty in the Air Force was over I returned to the City of Roses in 1959.

In 1963 I got married and now have four children and six grand children. After trying a few odd jobs I decided that education was the way to go and set my sights on a Bachelor's degree from Portland State College. By the time I had finished my degree Portland State College had become Portland State University. After graduating from college I had thought that my Bachelors degree in Business Administration was the ticket, but it appeared to me that corporate America had decided that I was too old, which left me looking for other avenues of work.

In 1977 I decided to move into the cleaning business by obtaining a service master franchise. I operated Service master of Tigard until 1984 when I decided to sell my service master franchise, and move towards strictly doing carpet and upholstery cleaning. I received training in commercial carpet maintenance, carpet cleaning, upholstery cleaning, fabric cleaning, water damage, odor control, and fire and smoke restoration. This eventually led to IICRC Certification (Institute of Inspection Cleaning and Restoration Certification) as a Master Textile Cleaner.

Of course I continue to keep up with changes in the industry, and only use the latest and best products and equipment. I have two truck mounted cleaning machines that guarantee you top notch service.

Freer's has always been active in the carpet cleaning industry serving as President of the Oregon Chapter of the CCINW (Carpet Cleaning Institute of the Northwest). Additionally, I served two years on the board of directors of the CCINW organization.

I have remained active in the community with twenty five years of service through the Kiwanis club of Tigard, OR. I served as President for two years, and was awarded the Hixon Award in 2000 for work on the world wide project on Iodine deficiency disorder.
